It was reported that Post-mortem examinations on the bodies of 26 teenage migrant girls found dead in the Mediterranean in early November confirmed they almost all drowned at sea. The loss of the girls — believed to be Nigerians aged 14 to 18 — has been described by the Nigerian foreign ministry as “a monumental loss and a sad moment for our country”. They were prepared for burial after their family members were contacted to identify their bodies.

Bilyamin Muhammed Bello, the son of a former PDP chairman, Haliru Bello, was last night, allegedly, stabbed to the death by his wife, Maryam Sanda, the daughter of embattled former Aso Savings boss, Hajia Maimuna Aliyu. . . According to reports, the attack stemmed from an allegation of infidelity after she saw a text message on his phone. The deceased was stabbed 3 times in the back; and severally on his private parts, at their home in Maitama, Abuja. . . Before this, Maimuna had bit part of his ear off and was treated at a hospital before returning home. He was advised to leave the house but he refused. Nearly 50 years since a Louisiana man was sentenced to life in prison in the kidnapping and rape of a nurse,  a judge has overturned his conviction. He is expected to walk out of prison Wednesday morning a free man. State District Court Judge Richard Anderson previously said the case against Wilbert Jones, 65, was “weak at best” and that authorities withheld evidence that could have exonerated Jones decades ago. The Global News reports that ,Jones didn’t show any visible reaction when Anderson set his bail Tuesday at a mere $2,000.
